KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS The Knights of Columbus is one of the largest charitable organizations in the world . Founded in March 1882 in Saint Mary’s Church in New Haven , Connecticut . The Knights of Columbus organization has grown from 32 members to almost two million members and is world wide today . The Knights have supported priests , parishes , communities and have enhanced the quality of life to their families by bringing the light of God to strengthen their spiritual faith . The Knights have raised millions of dollars over the years to help the homeless , poor , destitute and the elderly . They have taken up a special cause to help support the handicapped and are one of the biggest supporters of the special olympics . Like St. Mary’s in Connecticut , The Saint Maximilian Kolbe Council was founded in the cellar of St. Anne,s church 26 years ago . Today we have 110 members , raising thousands of dollars a year to support our charitable causes . The Knights are involved in all our ministries and all aspects of our weekend Masses from making coffee to singing in the choir . Currently , we have 8 knights on the parish council and 4 on the finance committee . Even if you give just a few hours of your time during the year , we would love to have you join us .
