Meeting days:  Sunday 10:30-11:30 am; Monday and Tuesday from 3:30-4:30 pm; Thursday 4:00-5:00pm

A catechist, who is usually a parent of one of the class members, facilitates each class with the assistance of an aide or co-teacher.  Grand parents and the youth of our parish can also fill these positions.  We also need parents to walk the children over from Hampstead Central School to the parish hall every week.  Hall monitors are needed when classes are in session.

Preparation for the Sacrament of First Reconciliation (Grade 2) is a family based experience.  The parents are provided with workbooks for their children and supplemental materials.  Parents work at home to prepare their children.  Each Sacramental preparation involves family attendance at a parent meeting, retreat and celebration.  The Sacrament of First Reconciliation is celebrated in the fall.

Preparation for the Sacrament of First Eucharist is a family-based experience.  The parents are provided with workbooks for their children and supplemental materials.  An essential element for First Eucharist is those preparing for the Sacrament celebrate Sunday Eucharist regularly with the parish family and they continue celebrating Sunday Eucharist after their First Eucharist.  Children are expected to know the basic prayer of our faith heritage (Sign of the Cross, Our Father, Hail Mary and brief Mass responses).  First Eucharist families are invited to take part in a Retreat/Share-a-meal Liturgy and Potluck supper.  The parent volunteers of the participating children coordinate all of these activities.  The Sacrament of First Eucharist is celebrated in May.
